It wasn't until someone e-mailed me that my misconceptions were set aright. This is an attempt to fill the void. If I am stepping on any toes, I apologize. For reference, I'm playing the first edition release of D-1 Tamers. My Wonderswan Color is the silver Limited Version model made in 2000. This walkthrough will be written with the Japanese names of the digimon in mind, not the English dub names, because I am more familiar with the Japanese names and have been transcribing the entire game text into a Japanese word processor. . This walkthrough will focus more on gameplay than the actual story, since translations of key events and some dialogue in the story can be found in the WS Gaming Diaries at: http://syldra.net/yesterday ====================================================================== =Updates (LOG)= ====================================================================== December 31st, 2013 - Beta release of this walkthrough. Enjoy! There may be some errors, so let me know if you see something off. ====================================================================== =Legalities (LGL)= ====================================================================== This particular Walkthrough for Digimon Adventure 02: D-1 Tamers is by Ajora Fravashi. GameFaqs.com and syldra.net are the sites where this Walkthrough can be found. If you'd like to distribute, feel free, but please let me know whether or not it will turn up on a site other than the ones stated above. And please leave it intact. The actual game Tag Tamers is ©Bandai Co., Ltd. 2000, as well as by Akiyoshi Hongo and Toei Animation. ====================================================================== =Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)= ====================================================================== These are questions I've either been asked personally or found on a forum or two. Q1 - What about those funny icons? A1 - Poisoned status is represented by a skull and crossbones. Cursed status is represented by a little swirly ghost flame. Paralysis is represented by a lightning bolt. These can be cleared away by PoisChips, CurseChips, SlipChips, and MetallicChips. Q2 - What are the D-3 and D-Terminal for? How do I use them? A2 - The D-3 is for capturing digimon during battles. Certain digimon require a certain number of points on the D-3 to be caught. A child that isn't a main character on the TV shows will take around 40 points to catch, but if you want a Holydramon, you need 650 points. Points can be added to the D-3 by fighting in battle. Also, that nifty little D-terminal is your best friend and comes with two options: digimon dictionary and dungeon maps. Entries are added to the dictionary by capturing or raising digimon, and dungeon maps can be added after you clear a dungeon and can buy an Installer from the Nanimon shop. Q3 - Why won't my digimon evolve? A3 - Jogress is the name of this game here, and different ranks of digimon require a different amount of Jogress points to reach a certain level. A rank 6 digimon like Seraphimon will take 20 Jogress points to reach Perfect and 60 to reach Ultimate, but a rank 9 digimon (Moon-Millenniumon) requires 40 points for Perfect and 120 for Ultimate. This is a much more reasonable than the earlier Jogress system in Tag Tamers, which had higher evolutionary requirements. Another element may be that you have an egg that may have a set evolution line. A rank 1 digimon may not be able to evolve past Adult, but can be used as jogress fodder for a higher ranking egg. You can either check with Ken's advice page or the evolution tables here. ====================================================================== =Battle Menu Translation (BMT)= ====================================================================== 1) Outside of battle: Joutai (condition): When you selected Joutai, you select the digimon whose stats you want to check on and you can then check on status, experience, jogress points, and what skills the digimon has. Jinkei: Allows you to arrange battle placement. Any digimon that's weak or prone to dying a lot can be placed in the back row, while the stronger digimon can remain in the front row and take the hits. Item: Calls up the Items list. Options are Use (Tsukau), Lose (Suteru), End (Yameru) - D-Terminal Selecting the D-Terminal will allow you to look at several things. - Zukan (Dictionary) - Dungeon - Provides a list of dungeon maps - Shinka (Evolution) - Ken provides info on evolution lines - Advice - Ken provides advice on your next dungeon. Save: Self-explanatory Digimental: Brings up the digimental list. - Watasu: Equips a digimon with a digimental. If the digimon already has a digimental, the game will ask if you want to replace it. - Azukaru: Unequips a digimon with a digimental. Yameru (End) 2) In battle: Tatakau (Fight): Allows you to select a skill to attack with. Item: Allows you to use an item in battle. Joutai (condition): See above. AI: Artificial Intelligence. There are four settings - Command: Basically exits AI and lets you fight on your own. - Power Attack: Attack with the strongest skill - Point Attack: Attack with the most effective skill - Defending: Block attacks Mamoru (protect): Digimon are on the defensive Nigeru (escape) ====================================================================== =System (SYS)= ====================================================================== The system is perplexing, confusing, and has had many people scratching their heads over it. Here's hoping this will clear things up. ______________________________________________________________________ A - Jogress Evolution: Egg ranking Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you throw in the mix so long as you have plenty of jogresses, and enough Jogress Points to make it to the level you want for the digimon you want. Want Moon-Millenniumon? Tough luck, you need 120 jogress points AND 8800+ exp. This is a list on how certain eggs rank. The Digitama List can be found at (JGE). Rank 1: Eggs 38-40 Rank 2: Eggs 1-6, 41-46 Rank 3: Eggs 8-13, 47-58, 74 Rank 4: Eggs 7, 20, 22, 23, 59-64 Rank 5: Eggs 14-19, 27-31, 65-70 Rank 6: Eggs 25, 32, 34, 71, 75-77 Rank 7: Eggs 26, 35, 72 Rank 8: Eggs 24, 33, 36, 73 Rank 9: Eggs 37, 78 Rank 10: Eggs 79, 21 ______________________________________________________________________ B - Jogress Evolution: Experience Chart Experience dictates how long it takes to level a digimon up to a certain point, and the bar goes higher with the digimon's rank. The numbers are higher than in Tag Tamers, and includes a 10th rank. Rank | Baby2 | Child | Adult | Perfect | Ultimate ¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 1 | 100 | 500 | 1000 | ---- | ---- 2 | 100 | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | ---- 3 | 100 | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | ---- 4 | 120 | 600 | 1200 | 2400 | ---- 5 | 140 | 700 | 1400 | 2800 | 5600 6 | 160 | 800 | 1600 | 3200 | 6400 7 | 180 | 900 | 1800 | 3600 | 7200 8 | 200 | 1000 | 2000 | 4000 | 8000 9 | 220 | 1100 | 2200 | 4400 | 8800 10 | 240 | 1200 | 2400 | 4800 | ---- ______________________________________________________________________ C - Jogress Evolution: Jogress Point Chart A certain number of Jogress points are required for a digimon to level up. This chart gives the bare minimum of what each rank requires. Slightly lower than Tag Tamers, with a 10th rank. Rank | Adult | Perfect | Ultimate ¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 1 | 2 | - | -- 2 | 2 | 8 | -- 3 | 2 | 9 | -- 4 | 3 | 12 | -- 5 | 4 | 16 | 48 6 | 5 | 20 | 60 7 | 6 | 24 | 72 8 | 8 | 32 | 96 9 | 10 | 40 | 120 10 | 12 | 48 | -- ______________________________________________________________________ D - Parameters For some reason, there are only a few easily visible stats. They are as follows: A: Attack - The amount of attack power your digimon has. S: Speed - How much speed the digimon has. The lower level they are, the faster they are. Moon-Millenniumon, for example, has a Speed of 2% while Punimon has a Speed of 20%. P: Protect - Protect points. The higher this number is, the more damage they can take. Y: Youth? - This represents a digimon's "life span." When it hits a certain number, the digimon is in danger of devolving. This varies with the digimon's level and max experience. You can usually tell when they'll devolve by a X that appear next to their picture in the status screen. At least, this was true in Tag Tamers. I've never reached this point in D-1 Tamers. ====================================================================== =Shop & Colosseum Menu Translations (SMT)= ====================================================================== 1) At the Reload Machine: Reload: Switch characters Azukeru: Allows you to put items or digimon in the Reload Machine for the other character to pick up. Hikidasu: Allows you to remove items or digimon from the Reload Machine. Joutai: Digimon status Mamoru (protect): Digimon are on the defensive Soto e deru: Allows you to leave Gennai's/Piccolomon's house. 2) Nanomon Server Room - Pick up or return digimon captured in battle. Digimon o morau: Pick up a digimon. You need an empty slot to do so. Digimon o kaesu: Return a digimon. Soto e deru: Go outside 3) Centaurmon Digimental Room - Purchase digimentals. Armor tsukuru: Rebuilds a digimental. Different digimentals are harder to rebuild than others, thus cost more to rebuild. Soto e deru: Go outside 4) Deramon Cloak Room - Where you stuff extra digimon. Azukeru: Turn over custody Uketoru: Resume custody Soto e deru: Go outside. 5) Nanimon Shop - Where to buy items. Item o kau: Buy Item. Note: once you clear a dungeon, you can buy Installers. These install dungeon maps on the D-Terminal. Item o uru: Sell item. You cannot sell the D-3 or D-Terminal. Soto e deru: Go outside. 6) Digitamamon Jogress Room Jogress: Jogresses two digimon together to form an egg, which then hatches to (potentially) form a new digimon. The digimon grows up learning the skills of its Jogress parents. Note: Baby level digimon cannot be jogressed. They must be Child-level or above. Kantei: Breaks apart a Jogress. Soto e deru: Go outside. 7) Clockmon Build Shop Memory Up: Allows you to expand the options/storage space available at other shops. - Shop - Jogress - Cloak Soto e deru: Go outside. ====================================================================== =The Story (NS)= ====================================================================== Ryo was first called into the Digital World on New Year's Eve of 1999 to battle Millenniumon and save the Chosen Children. To do this, Ryo was loaned Agumon and Taichi's digivice, and defeated Millenniumon with the aide of the Chosen Children's digimon partners. Months later, he was lured into the Digital World again to defeat Millenniumon, and Ken joined him. They tag-teamed across a shattered Digital World until finally confronting Millenniumon. When the evil god fell, he released Dark Seeds and Ken took one that was set to infect Ryo. While Ryo and Ken returned to the real world, Ken was sick afterwards. Wormmon noticed Ken slowly changing. Then, one day, Ryo was again called to the Digital World. The D-1 Tournament was being staged to find the strongest tamer to partner with a Holy Beast against other Holy Beasts who had gone corrupt, and Ryo was invited. He was drawn into the Digital World once again, and all is not what it seems. ====================================================================== =Walkthrough (WT)= ====================================================================== First, I'm running on the assumption that people reading this are more interested in the gameplay than the actual story. With that out of the way, I'm going to hold your hand for the majority of the game and make sure you don't do something silly. Like with all the Ryo games, you start out by entering a name for the main character. Ryo is the default name. Then comes a flashback to the end of Tag Tamers before switching to present day. Ken is sick in bed and Ryo takes care of him. Ken mentions finding a strange home- page which gives an unusually detailed quiz. The first question is fairly easy, concerning Millenniumon's final form in the last game. The answer is #3, Moon-Millenniumon. The second question is much more detailed, asking how the number of keys needed to progress to Millenniumon's floating continent in Tag Tamers were generated. This being something only Ryo and Ken would know, Ryo is suspicious. It doesn't matter which option you choose, because he will ask Ken about it and then skip ahead to question 8. The options are as follows: 1. Baihumon of the beasts 2. Zhuqiaomon of the birds 3. Xuanwumon of the waters 4. Qinglongmon of the dragons Whatever you choose, its silhouette will abduct Ryo from the real world, where Gennai, Piccolomon, and others await. Long story short, there is a tournament staged by the Holy Beast of your choice. As it turns out, the other Holy Beasts went evil and this tournament is to decide which tamer/Chosen Child is worthy to be its partner and help defeat the other Holy Beasts. So they say. Ryo then heads to the tournament grounds, where he is accosted by a gang of boys who are unimpressed by him. They're chased off by Piccolomon, who is unimpressed with everyone, and Piccolomon sends Ryo back to Gennai's. Gennai has set up a feed for Ryo to keep in touch with Ken. After a bit of back-and-forth, a Toy Agumon runs up to announce that the Holy Beast of your choice will be speaking, and Ryo again heads for the tournament grounds. Your Holy Beast of choice goes on about the tournament, and then Piccolomon explains the set-up. Basically, there are 5 stages, and clearing those stages unlocks practice dungeons for you to level up in. It's back to Gennai's, where V-mon, Wormmon, and Agumon reunite with Ryo and serve as his first party. Now that you have a party, it's time to follow Ken's advice and head to the Fire Field. This will be in the area accessible from a bridge to the south. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 1, Fire Field: Fire Cave (Honoo no Doukutsu) | |Lofts: Conversation, Item | |Treasure: Random loft - Floppy/Plug-in | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|---|C|---|B|---|I|---|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | | *Note: For future reference, B = Battle loft, C = Conversation, | | I = Item, R = Random, O = Ogremon, F = Forked Path, | | H = Recovery/Heal, S = Shop, X = Boss Battle | |Terrain: Road (Bonus to sky, earth digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: PetitMeramon | |Enemies: Botamon, PetitMeramon, Koromon | |Boss: Meramon, Candmon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is a fairly simple, straight-forward dungeon. With the party you have now, you should have no problem with it. Keep Wormmon in the back row, otherwise Meramon will keep targeting him. Once defeated, Meramon urges you on to the tournament. When you head back to Gennai, he urges you on to the tournament. It's actually a better idea to do a little levelling, so you'll want to go through this dungeon a few more times and build up points on the D-3. Once you're ready, head straight north until you reach the tournament tower. Piccolomon asks if you're ready. If you are, press "OK" and Grade 5 of the tournament starts. As it is automatic, you can only dictate how your party fights at the very beginning of each round. Your options are: Power Attack, Point Attack, Defending. ______________________________________________________________________ | D-1 Tournament GRADE 5 | |Round 1: | | Versus Kazuya. Party: Koromon, PetitMeramon | | | |Round 2: | | Versus Rieko. Party: Poyomon, Tsunomon | | Versus Taiki. Party: Kapurimon, Mochimon | | | |Round 3: | | Versus Koushiro. Party: Tentomon, PetitMeramon, Kunemon | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is not a hard stage of the tournament, so going with Power Attack will work well enough for you. The game gives you two different opponents for Round 2. Which one you get seems to be random. The tournament pauses before the final round so that Koushiro can talk to Ryo, reminisce about old times and say that he plans on being the warrior for the Holy Beast to bring peace to the Digital World. When you defeat him, Koushiro congratulates you and it's back to Gennai. The Bug Field is open and Gennai sends you on your way. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 3, Bug Field: Bug Cage Cave (Mushikago no Doukutsu) | |Lofts: Conversation, Switches | |Treasure: None | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |C|--|B|--| |--|B|--| |--|B|--| |--|B|--| |--|B|--| |--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Grass (Bonus to sky, earth digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: Tsunomon | |Enemies: Mochimon, Kapurimon, Punimon, Pichimon, Koromon, Kunemon, | | Snimon, Zurumon, Mokumon, Yanmamon, Pagumon | |Boss: Kuwagamon, Gokimon, Babumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Okay, so this gets a bit tricky. Interspersed between battle lofts are switches which can either boost Kuwagamon's strength or reduce it. Here's how things fall: * If you either press no switches or press all of them: Kuwagamon's AP+80% * If you either press one switch or four of them: Kuwagamon's AP+40% * If you press two switches: Kuwagamon's AP remains unchanged * If you press three switches: Kuwagamon's AP-30% Press three switches and leave two alone, and you'll do fine. If you have enough points on your D-3, save it for when you get to anything child-level and over. Collect what you can for Jogress fodder. While you can't jogress yet, you'll want plenty of digimon available. Kuwagamon IS pretty powerful even if you do reduce his power, especially his area damage skill Energy Bomb, so be sure you have enough items to help out. Once you clear this dungeon, your only real incentive to return is to catch Flymon for their skill. If you want to breeze through the entire game, catch three Flymon and run on AI forever. Their only skill is Deadly Sting, which will paralyze random enemies. If you're lucky, you can get away with paralyzing entire parties, including bosses. Thanks to BobO for verifying this. Once the bug dungeon is clear, you can move on to the next stage of the tournament. ______________________________________________________________________ | D-1 Tournament GRADE 4 | |Round 1: | | Versus Johnny. Party: Nyokimon, Tanemon, Yuramon | | | |Round 2: | | Versus Bull. Party: Tsunomon, Numemon, Mochimon | | Versus Sid. Party: Pyokomon, RedVeggimon, Poyomon | | | |Round 3: | | Versus Wallace. Party: Gazimon, Terriermon, Guardromon | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This stage is slightly tougher, so you may want to do a little more leveling beforehand. The Courage Digimental on V-mon will help, and you may want to switch Agumon out for Yanmamon, who has an area attack. Wallace mentions that Ryo's reputation (as the only person to ever beat Millenniumon twice, I'm assuming) is known even in America, but he still plans on becoming the Holy Beast's warrior. Okay, then. He is tougher, but you can manage with just the Power Attack option. When you defeat Wallace, the Flower Field opens up. You still can't jogress yet, but grab a Veggimon. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Flower Field: Flower Hollow (Hana no Ana) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: Attack Chip, Slip Chip, Plug-in, Floppy | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Snow (Bonus to sky, earth digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Zurumon, Yuramon, Pagumon, Botamon, Tokomon, Nyokimon, | | Pyokomon, Veggimon, RedVeggimon | |Boss: Mushmon (Woodmon, Jureimon), Jagamon, Pyokomon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is a pretty easy dungeon, the only complication being that the dungeon boss evolves in the middle of battle. Jureimon isn't terribly hard, though, and you can defeat him in a few rounds. More annoying is the Jagamon, who can raise his own defense stats. But wait! There's another dungeon in this field! This will be the status quo from here on out. Also, at this point, hint leaves start falling on the ground from that tree near Gennai's house. Full trans- lations are in another section of this walkthrough. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Flower Field: Flower Nest Hollow (Hana no Soukutsu) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Digimental Room | |Treasure: Plug-in | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Snow (Bonus to sky, earth digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: Pyokomon | |Enemies: Nyokimon, Tanemon, Poyomon, Mochimon, Pyokomon, Veggimon, | | RedVeggimon | |Boss: Blossomon (Igamon, Floramon), Jagamon, Nyokimon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This dungeon is much like the previous one, with one exception. Blossomon attempts to evolve higher, but ends up devolving to Igamon, then Floramon. Strategize accordingly and focus your hits on Jagamon and Nyokimon until Blossomon turns into Floramon. Having the Poison and Curse digimentals equipped will prevent some damage from status ailments, With the Flower Field cleared (though I do recommend going back for levelling, because Mimi is tough), it's back to the tourny grounds. ______________________________________________________________________ | D-1 Tournament GRADE 3 | |Round 1: | | Versus George. Party: Hagurumon, Clockmon, Choromon | | | |Round 2: | | Versus Michael. Party: Patamon, Angemon, Poyomon | | Versus Rei. Party: Ogremon, PicoDevimon, Botamon | | | |Round 3: | | Versus Mimi. Party: Monochromon, Togemon, Mushmon | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Okay, so Mimi is really, really tough. If you're not ready, she can and will defeat you. That you can actually go back and try again should be enough to warn you that all is not what it seems with this tournament. If you do defeat her, the Jogress Room becomes available afterwards and you can move ahead to the Gear Field. If you don't, you have to go fetch Digitamamon from the (stuffed) Toy Field. Turns out, he chased Etemon there because Etemon ran out on his restaurant bill. To survive Mimi, your best bet is to use digimentals. Digimentals for everyone! You'll need at least the Bomb defence digimental, and then status defenses. Or, if you have V-mon, Hawkmon, or Armadimon, stock at least one of them with the armor digimental that works best with your party. Good luck! Should you succeed in beating Mimi, she'll invite Ryo on a date and jogress becomes automatically available. If you don't, you have to go clear the Toy Town dungeons and fetch Digitamamon before attempting to beat Mimi again. Either way, it's on to Toy Town. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Toy Field: Play Town 1 (Pureitaun 1) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: Protect Chip, Fast Chip, Floppy, RecoveryFD | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Tile (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Zurumon, Botamon, ToyAgumon, Tsunomon, Mochimon, Numemon, | | Koromon, Pagumon, Revolvmon, Punimon, Babumon, Starmon, | | Tokomon, Kapurimon, Nanimon, Poyomon, Mokumon, Sukamon | |Boss: Monzaemon, Revolvmon, ToyAgumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you have the points, grab all the digimon child level and over, because you need jogresses to level up. This is a fairly easy dungeon, though you'll want a few items anyway. When you get to the final floor and defeat Monzaemon, he asks for an item. Go ahead and give him something, because he will come along later to return the favor. Make it something cheap. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Toy Field: Play Town 2 (Pureitaun 2) | |Lofts: Item, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: Floppy, Plug-in All, Speed Chip, Poison Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Tile (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Zurumon, Botamon, ToyAgumon, Tsunomon, Mochimon, Numemon, | | Koromon, Pagumon, Revolvmon, Punimon, Babumon, Starmon, | | Tokomon, Kapurimon, Nanimon, Poyomon, Mokumon, Sukamon | |Boss: Vadermon, Starmon, ToyAgumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ There's not much difference between this dungeon and the first, other than the fact that there's a slightly stronger boss here. You will be asked again to turn over an item to Vadermon once you defeat him, and he'll return the favor later. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Toy Field: Play Town 3 (Pureitaun 3) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Digimental Room | |Treasure: Floppy, Plug-in All, Fast Chip, Slip Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|B|--|O|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Tile (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Zurumon, Botamon, ToyAgumon, Tsunomon, Mochimon, Numemon, | | Koromon, Pagumon, Revolvmon, Punimon, Babumon, Starmon, | | Tokomon, Kapurimon, Nanimon, Poyomon, Mokumon, Sukamon | |Boss: Digitamamon, Numemon, ToyAgumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Different verse, same as the first. Slightly stronger boss with a skill that can destroy an equipped digimental, so don't get too attached to one. There is a variation here in that Ogremon sits in the second-to-last loft. If you talk to him, he'll challenge you to a battle. If you have the D-3 points, take that opportunity to capture his entire party. They're fairly powerful and can be added to your jogress pools. Then it's on to the boss. Bewilderingly, Digitamamon accuses you of running out on your restaurant bill, and you have to fight him before he realizes his error. Feel free to turn over an item. If you lost to Mimi, the scene will flash out to the 3-dungeon area, where Digitamamon agrees to open the Jogress Room and Ryo agrees to take on Etemon. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 4, Toy Field: Play Town 4 (Pureitaun 4) | |Lofts: Items, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: Floppy, Plug-in, Poison Chip, Curse Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Tile (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Zurumon, Botamon, ToyAgumon, Tsunomon, Mochimon, Numemon, | | Koromon, Pagumon, Revolvmon, Punimon, Babumon, Starmon, | | Tokomon, Kapurimon, Nanimon, Poyomon, Mokumon, Sukamon | |Boss: Garbamon, Sukamon, ToyAgumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Pretty much the same as the past few dungeons in this field. Remember all those dungeon bosses you gave items to? They return to help out a little. Each will talk to you, head up to the next loft, and leave an item. Just before the final battle, there's a HolyAngemon to heal you, and I highly recommend taking advantage of his services. If you're unprepared, Etemon can be tough, and ToyAgumon keeps spamming Barrier, which is annoying, but area attacks and status ailments should circumvent that. Use healing items when necessary and you should be okay. Word of advice: You can farm the second-to-last non-battle loft of Etemon's dungeon for JogPlus, which is a wonderful item you'll want a ton of in order to help evolve your digimon. You can hit this dungeon about three times for JogPlus items before it dries up and spits other items at you instead. No matter, though. If you run through another dungeon and then go back, you'll be able to farm this dungeon for JogPlus items again. Save your JogPlus items for digimon that require a high number of jogress points in order to evolve, or one you have a particular preference for. For example, I always have a Millenniumon/ Moon-Millenniumon in my party, and in this game it takes about 120 JP to get him. This would be much more time-consuming without a bunch of these marvelous time-savers. Once you've defeated Mimi, the Jogress Room is open and available. Take this time to use it and mush as many captured digimon together as possible. Digitamamon will tell you what the end results will be, but given that this guide is designed for non-Japanese speakers, I'll be making a chart available with keyword identification in the future. If you have the BITS, go to Clockmon and max out Deramon's Cloak Room and the Jogress Room first, then work on everything else. You will need the storage space. It will also help to buy up a ton of status and damage reduction digimentals and let Digitamamon add them to the jogress process. By doing so, you can give a digimon natural immunity to the status effect or damage type in question. If I may make recommendations, consider the following to add to your Jogress list: Flymon (Deadly Sting is an area status effect that can either paralyze one or more [or none if you're unlucky] enemies; I've had times where it paralyzed entire parties that would have been difficult to defeat otherwise); Bakumon (Nightmare Syndrome renders a skill unusable); Gargomon (Gatling Arms is an area damage attack that hits both front and back rows and is only trumped in strength by Mugendramon's Mugen Cannon), and Dokugumon (area poison effect). When you think you're ready and have an adult or three, feel free to go on ahead to the Gear Field. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 5, Gear Field: Plug Room 1 (Puragu Ru-mu 1) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Healer | |Treasure: Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy, Attack Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|H|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Machine (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Choromon, Punimon, Kokuwamon, Tsunomon, Hagurumon, Pukamon,| | Tankmon, Guardromon, Mechanorimon, Clockmon | |Boss: Nanomon, Giromon, Clockmon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ So the theme for this series of dungeons is to collect gears from dungeon bosses to use on Boltmon and suppress a particular power. A warning for the boss battle: Nanomon has a bomb attack and Giromon has Counter. Your best bets are either status effects (especially poison) and area attacks to get around the Counter, and feel free to use any healing items you have. Child-level digimon move faster, so let them be the item dealers if you have one. When you defeat Nanomon, you receive an Attack Gear, which reduces Boltmon's AP stat, and thus makes his hits less painful. Collect all the digimon you want and experiment with jogressing them. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 5, Gear Field: Plug Room 2 (Puragu Ru-mu 2) | |Lofts: Items, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: 1) Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy, Protect Chip | | 2) Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy, Speed Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Machine (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Choromon, Punimon, Kokuwamon, Tsunomon, Hagurumon, Pukamon,| | Tankmon, Guardromon, Mechanorimon, Clockmon | |Boss: Andromon, MetalMamemon, Choromon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Similar to the above dungeon. MetalMamemon has the Counter skill, and Andromon heals, so attack Andromon first. Area attacks and status ailments will serve you well here, especially against MetalMamemon. Upon defeating Andromon, he gives you the Shield Gear, which will reduce Boltmon's PP stat and make your hits hurt him more. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 5, Gear Field: Plug Room 3 (Puragu Ru-mu 3) | |Lofts: Items, Digimental Shop | |Treasure: 1) Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy, Fast Chip | | 2) Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy, Poison Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Machine (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Choromon, Punimon, Kokuwamon, Tsunomon, Hagurumon, Pukamon,| | Tankmon, Guardromon, Mechanorimon, Clockmon | |Boss: Megadramon. Megadramon will give you a Skill Gear, which will reduce Boltmon's use of skills. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 5, Gear Field: Gear Tower (Gia no Tou) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Ogremon, Nanimon Shop | |Treasure: 1) DX Floppy, Slip Chip, NeoPlug-in | | 2) Floppy All, Plug-in All, NeoFloppy All, Poison Chip | | * JogPlus available in #2 | | after defeating Boltmon | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|O|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Machine (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: Kokuwamon | |Enemies: Choromon, Punimon, Kokuwamon, Tsunomon, Hagurumon, Pukamon,| | Tankmon, Guardromon, Mechanorimon, Clockmon | |Boss: Boltmon, MetalTyrannomon, Kokuwamon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The battle against Boltmon can be tough, depending on your battle preferences. You'll be asked to select a gear, which will reduce either AP, PP, or skill usage. Personally I recommend using the Attack Gear, but that's just me. If you can, defeat MetalTyrannomon first. He has an area damage skill that hurts a ton. When Boltmon is defeated, he'll thank you and you can go on ahead to the next field. A huge warning before you go on to the Demon Field (Mazoku no Field), though: At each of the Black Box dungeons, you will have to sacrifice a digimon to stop the dungeon boss from triggering a self- destruct mechanism and killing your entire party in an explosion and making you lose the game. Which is a terrible thing to ask of a child character, but there you go. Everything that can go wrong in this game does. While the player decides which digimon to sacrifice, the story narrative tells that they sacrifice themselves to save Ryo, If you have a few digimon you can do without and/or haven't used as Jogress fodder, take one along to each Black Box. You'll only need one sacrifice per dungeon. Ken's advice feed will say the same thing. Additionally, take a handful of Metallic Chips if you can afford them. The enemy parties are just as happy to throw out status effects as you are. While Curse is most frequent, Poison is pretty common too. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 6, Demon Field: Black Box 1 (Burakku Bokkusu 1) | |Lofts: Conversation, Items, Ogremon | |Treasure: NeoFloppy, NeoFloppyAll, RecoveryHD, Attack Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|C|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|O|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Bricks (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Dokugumon, PicoDevimon, Tsunomon, Raremon, Zurumon, Ogremon| | Botamon, Devidramon, Koromon, Evilmon, Poyomon, Soulmon, | | Pagumon, Devimon, Punimon, Bakemon, Tokomon | |Boss: LadyDevimon, MetalGreymon, Soulmon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Grab all the Jogress-ready digimon you can (that is, anything that is child level and above). When you get to Lady Devimon, she will go on about terrifying demon digimon, blah blah blah, and say that she will drag you and your party with her to death when you defeat her. To stop the explosion, the player is given a choice to either sacrifice a digimon or not. The game text will read the choice not as a voluntary decision by Ryo but as the digimon selflessly sacrificing his/her own life for Ryo and the rest of the party. Lady Devimon cannot believe or understand why a digimon would do such a thing for Ryo, and you're free to advance to the next dungeon. Better fetch another digimon from Nanomon's Server Room for it. Maybe restock your items, too. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 6, Demon Field: Black Box 2 (Burakku Bokkusu 2) | |Lofts: Items, Shop | |Treasure: NeoFloppy, NeoFloppyAll, RecoveryHD, Protect Chip | | NeoFloppy, NeoFloppyAll, RecoveryHD, Speed Chip | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|S|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Bricks (Bonus to sky digimon), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Dokugumon, PicoDevimon, Tsunomon, Raremon, Zurumon, Ogremon| | Botamon, Devidramon, Koromon, Evilmon, Poyomon, Soulmon, | | Pagumon, Devimon, Punimon, Bakemon, Tokomon | |Boss: SkullSatamon, Vamdemon, Raremon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Same theme as above. Feel free to roll your eyes, because I know I did. He will also try to take you with him, and again you'll have to choose which digimon will heroically sacrifice him/herself. Skullsatamon wonders if this is the power of friendship and you get to deal with this again in the next dungeon. Word of warning for the upcoming boss battle: Phantomon has Soul Chopper, which is a skill that kills its target in 3 turns. The DM-Konzetsu will protect against this. SkullGreymon says that this will become your graveyard. Yeah, okay. When you defeat him, he'll show you the power of demon digimon, fear of death, so on, and self-destruct. Sacrifice another digimon and he wonders why someone would sacrifice themselves for the team and if that's the strength of a partner. Okay then. Time to head back, restock, and take whichever digimon you want to the next dungeon because at least there you don't have to make yet another sacrifice. No more sacrifices, they're over now. Hooray! VenomVamdemon can be pretty tough, so remember to take plenty of items and your strongest digimon. VenomVamdemon gives a spiel much like the things the other Demon Field bosses have been saying. He'll show you true terror, etc etc. When you do defeat him, he says he can't believe it and wonders if this is the power of a tamer. Then it's back to Gennai. Hey, guess what! If you think it's farming time, you're right. Not only do you not have to sacrifice anyone in the Undead Box, but you can find JogPlug items up to five times in this dungeon. When they run out, simply go through another dungeon and try again later. You can easily end up farming the Stuffed Toy Tower three times and then move on to the Undead Box for five runs, then head back to the Stuffed Toy Tower again. This not only lets you get as many JogPlus items as you want, it also helps you level your favorite digimon team and prepare for the rest of the tournament. Which is ready and waiting for you. ______________________________________________________________________ | D-1 Tournament GRADE 2 | |Round 1: | | Versus Naomi: Knightmon, Dokugumon, Deltamon | | | |Round 2: | | Versus Satoshi: Mammon, ShimaUnimon, Ankylomon | | Versus Sanae: Whamon, Rukamon, Otamamon | | | |Round 3: | | Versus Yamato. Party: WereGarurumon, Angemon, Leomon | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Fair warning: Yamato is tough. He's even tougher if your party has been using skills that were heavy on the DP (e.g. Millenniumon's ridiculous Time Unlimited, which costs 58 DP) and face him with nothing but 0 DP skills. This is the time to strategize. You'll want everyone Adult level or above, with enough experience/YP and PP to withstand stronger hits. When you finally beat him, Yamato congratulates you and two new dungeons open up. By this point, you may have captured or recorded between 50 and 100 into the Digimon dictionary on the D-Terminal. If you haven't done so already, go back to Gennai some time. He will congratulate you for reaching either milestone and gift you with a Red V-dramon or a Gold V-dramon. Get both and jogress them together, and you'll get Master V-dramon. Master V-dramon is probably the strongest digimon in the game, so long as he's kept at the adult stage, he keeps his stats. As Master V-dramon is a rank 8 egg and requires 8 jogresses to reach adult and 32 to reach perfect, so use that frame to add any skills you'd like during jogresses. Now, on to the new dungeons! Remember to stock up. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 7, Angel Field: Angel Tower (Tenshi no Tou) | |Lofts: Healer, Items | |Treasure: 1) MaxFloppy, DX Floppy All | | 2) DX PlugIn, JogPlus* | | * JogPlus available in #2 | | after defeating Goddramon | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|F|---|B|--|B|--|B|--|H|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|H|--|B|---|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ | | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | -|B|--|B|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|I|--|B| - | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | | | |Terrain: Holy Ground (neutral), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: Patamon | |Enemies: Centarumon, Patamon, Tokomon, Angemon, Poyomon,Tailmon, | | Zurumon, Shakkoumon, Koromon, Angewomon, HolyAngemon, | | Botamon, Punimon, Piccolomon, Lilymon, Tsunomon | |Boss: Goddramon, Piccolomon, Centarumon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The bomb digimental will help you against both regular digimon and the boss' party. According to the Centarumon just before the dungeon, angel digimon survive better in the dungeon. However, if your party is strong enough, you can survive just as well without. The path splits, and you'll have to decide on whether you want free healing every 3 battles, or free items. The table might help with that. Regardless, you'll still end up at the final boss. Goddramon (?) has Seven Heavens, which can help your party if you have it, and can be completely annoying if the other party does. This skill revives a fallen digimon, so you'll want to take out the one with it. Once you clear the Angel Tower, it's on to the Demon Lord field. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 8, Demon Lord Field: Death-Chimera Zone | |Lofts: Healer, Ogremon, Conversation | |Treasure: None | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|F|---|B|--|H|--|B|--|O|--|B|--|C|---|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ | | | ___ ___ ___ | | | -|B|--|B|--|B|---------------- | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | | | |Terrain: Marsh (bonus to water, sky), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Picodevimon, Evilmon, Deltamon, Wizarmon, Ogremon, Devimon | | Dokugumon, Mushamon, Devidramon, Ashuramon, Knightmon | |Boss: Chimeramon, Jijimon, Knightmon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Digimentals you'll want for these two dungeons: Bomb and Konzetsu defence (Eradication -- Jijimon and Piemon have this skill). Poison defence may help, too. The dungeon forks into two paths: the upper path gives you breathing space and an Ogremon to steal digimon from, the lower path is all battles straight through to the dungeon boss. Jijimon has Hang On Death, which will kill its target in 3 rounds. The Konzetsu digimental will help defend against that, but you may want to target him first, anyway. Chimeramon changes his defenses with each round, so keep that in mind. The pattern is as follows: Normal, Bubble, Crash, Mind, Azad, and loops back to Normal. Status ailments and area attacks will serve you best here, but it's a good idea to keep an eye on Chimeramon's status changes nonetheless. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 8, Demon Lord Field: Death-Mugen Zone | |Lofts: Healer, Ogremon, Conversation | |Treasure: None | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|F|---|B|--|H|--|B|--|H|--|B|--|C|---|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ | | | ___ ___ ___ | | | -|B|--|B|--|B|---------------- | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | | | |Terrain: Marsh (bonus to water, sky), Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Picodevimon, Evilmon, Deltamon, Wizarmon, Ogremon, Devimon | | Dokugumon, Mushamon, Devidramon, Ashuramon, Knightmon | |Boss: Mugendramon, Piemon, Ashuramon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This dungeon is much like the earlier one in this field and the same digimental recommendations apply. The upper path in the forked loft offers respite between battles, the lower path is all battles straight through to Mugendramon. Mugendramon hurts much more than Chimeramon did, as Mugen Cannon hits all members of your party. The Bomb defence digimental will serve you well here, as will the Konzetsu digimental, because Piemon's Trump Sword has the same effect as Jijimon's Hang On Death. Mugendramon changes resistance like Chimeramon did before him, so keep an eye on that. Once the Angel and Demon Lord fields are cleared, it's back to Gennai's for the final round of the tournament. Fair warning before you go: several competitors have digimental-destroying skills. If you haven't already and are so inclined, add the Armor digimental to the Jogress process for one of your digimon and go level up a lot. At this point, you want your entire party to be at Ultimate level (except Master V-dramon, if you have him) with around 10 or more YP. Do everything you can to prepare your party to survive without you, because there is no chance of you being able to throw items at them. ______________________________________________________________________ | D-1 Tournament GRADE 1 | |Round 1: | | Versus Hiroyuki: Giromon, Megadramon, Choromon | | | |Round 2: | | Versus Genki: Vamdemon, SkullSatamon, Raremon | | Versus | | | |Round 3: | | Versus Taichi: Triceramon, WarGreymon, Cyclomon | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Taichi is, hands down, the toughest part of the tournament. If your party is full of Ultimates (Master V-Dramon being the only lower level digimon you should be considering), you might have a chance. Because each competitor has a skill to destroy digimentals, inborn defences will serve you better here. These are either species traits, or additions made during jogressing by adding a digimental to the jogress process. In the flash to Taichi before his battle, he says it's been a long time, he's sorry to see Ryo struggle through the tournament, but he's the last opponent and he advises Ryo not to be too hard on him. Then there's the battle, and it's odd. If you beat Taichi just before the 10 minute time limit, you're golden and the victory scene proceeds as expected. Taichi congratulates you and says that Ryo was expected to be the Holy Beast's warrior all along. This dialogue occurs even after you survive the 10 minute time limit and Taichi lets you win anyway. Then Taichi says that the tournament was designed all along to train Ryo, strengthen him enough to go against an enemy no one else has a chance against. The strongest, worst digimon is reviving, and then Piccolomon sends Ryo off to Gennai's to hear the full reason for the deception. Gennai says that this was to train Ryo to his fullest potential, however well it's hidden, and that they need Ryo's co- operation against the awakening evil in the dark shrine. Yeah, so everyone is too afraid to say who exactly Ryo is going up against. Must be Voldemort. First to greet Ryo once he leave Gennai's house is your Holy Beast of choice, who says that Ryo had done well in growing strong, that the Digital World will be destroyed with the revival of the evil king that not even the Holy Beasts can defeat, and that Ryo has an unknown power that surpasses theirs. The Holy Beast then tells Ryo to go clear the final training dungeon and the way to the evil king's lair will open. With all that exposition out of the way, the stage bosses come out to talk. Mimi is the first and only person to actually apologize, Koushiro thanks him, Wallace says that the tournament made them all stronger, Yamato says that Ryo's burden may be greater in the future, and Taichi realizes that Ryo isn't talking and says that Ryo should not blame the Holy Beasts. They then leave, and Piccolomon and Gennai turn up. Piccolomon says that the other digimon send their gratitude and that Ryo must fight the villain he'd fought before. Gennai points out that one digimon had been evil from the very beginning, and Piccolomon says that Etemon had been the genuine article. Then it's off to the final training dungeon, which is accessible by portal in the basement of the D-1 Tower. The final training dungeon varies depending on who you choose as your Holy Beast, so the following information will be filled out after several play-throughs. However, by this point, these dungeons won't be too hard. Just stock up on items, use status ailments if you have them available, and you'll do fine. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 9a, Heavenly Sky Field: Wing Tower | |Lofts: Healer, Items, Ogremon, Shop | |Treasure: 1) MaxFloppy, DX PlugIn All | | 2) DX Floppy All, Fast Chip | | 3) DX PlugIn, JogPlus* | | * JogPlus available in #3 | | after defeating Griffomon | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|F|---|B|--|H|--|B|--|B|--|S|--|B|--|B|---------|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | ¯¯¯ | | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | -|B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|I|--|B|--|O|--- | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | | | |Terrain: Rocky Ground (bonus to sky, earth), Sanctuary (sky, earth) | |Dungeon reward: Garudamon | |Enemies: Cockatrimon, Kiwimon, Hawkmon, Birdramon, Piyomon, | | Aquilamon, Garudamon, Deramon, Silphymon, Hououmon, | | Valkyrimon | |Boss: Gryphomon, Silphymon, Aquilamon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Things to keep an eye on: One of the boss party members have a stat-reduction skill, which can be dispelled with Force Chips. Once you clear the final training dungeon, you're sent back to Gennai, who says that Moon-Millenniumon is nearly revived. Take this time to stock up on items and polish off your final party, because you will not have another chance. Once you are ready, go back to Gennai;s. There's a brief flash to Millenniumon's floating continent, then back to the town. Piccolomon says that it's started, and Ryo's digivice glows. The Holy Beasts appear and say various things, Xuanwumon urges Ryo to defeat Millenniumon, Qinglongmon says he would like to request a favor of Ryo afterwards, Baihumon tells Ryo to fight with all his might and not give up, Zhuqiamon repeats what has already been said, that only Ryo can defeat Millenniumon. Afterwards Ryo stands alone in the middle of darkness, the screen flashes, and he appears before Millenniumon's crystal palace. Moon-Millenniumon begins by saying that he'd been waiting, that he revived so that he can defeat Ryo. No digimon, not even the Four Holy Beasts, is a threat to him now. Ryo is different in that he's the only random element that makes the impossible possible, and that the world does not need two beings with the same power. and invites Ryo to come to him. Then Ryo enters the tower, and it's a gauntlet. Seven battles, one after the other, until you get to the final battle. ______________________________________________________________________ |Field 10, Final Continent Field | |Lofts: Battle only | |Treasure: None | | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | |B|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|B|--|X| | | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ | |Terrain: Sanctuary (neutral) | |Dungeon reward: None | |Enemies: Rosemon, Demon, Vamdemon, MetalEtemon, Pinocchimon, | | Phantomon, MetalGarurumon, KingEtemon, HeraclesKabuterimon,| | Ashuramon, Holydramon, Knightmon, DeathMeramon, Seraphimon,| | LadyDevimon, Apocalymon, Diablomon, SkullGreymon, | | SkullSatamon | |Boss: Moon-Milleniumon, Diablomon, Apocalymon | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Final dungeon. I hope you have everything you needed or wanted, because this is a tough gauntlet and you need all your items. Before the final battle, Moon-Millenniumon says to "put our hearts in the battle and fight", and we're off. Fair warning: Moon-Mille has Mugen Cannon in addition to Death Crystal, which hurts and the Bomb digimental can help with that. Apocalymon's Ankoku renders a random skill unusable, and Diablomon's C Cannon destroys digimentals, so watch for those. When you finally defeat Moon-Millenniumon, the screen flashes to the Chosen Children and Gennai. Piccolomon is worried, Taichi tries to reassure him, Koushiro says that all they can do is wait and hope, Mimi and Wallace say Ryo's name (though Mimi appends -chan to Ryo). Then it's back to the dungeon, where Moon-Mille says that he and Ryo are Yin and Yang, and neither can win. Then he invites Ryo to fly with him through the worlds of time, and there's an explosion that destroys Moon-Millenniumon's continent. The screen fades out and shifts back to Gennai's, where the digimon and Gennai are gathered around a monitor. Gennai says that Ryo hasn't returned, and Ken is certain that Ryo is out there somewhere. The screen then fades out to Ken's room, where he monologues about how Ryo had been gone for a week and that he's sure that Ryo is out there somewhere and that they'll meet again sometime in the future. Then the screen cuts to the monitor displaying the wonderswan website and goes to credits. Like all the Ryo games, you have the option to go back and dungeon trawl and pick up any items/digimon you didn't get the first time around. ====================================================================== =Jogress Guide & Digitama List (JGE)= ====================================================================== First thing to know about Jogress in this game: it isn't the same as Jogressing in the TV show. You can Jogress anyone to anyone else so long as they aren't in Baby mode and don't have a digimental equipped. Cram as many digimon together as you want, in fact. The more Jogress points an egg has, the easier it is to advance past Adult level. Some eggs even require a vast amount of Jogress points to make it to Ultimate. If you want Seraphimon, a rank 4 egg, you need a minimum of 72 Jogress points. The (SYS) category earlier in this document has a list of egg rankings and evolution requirements. Unlike Tag Tamers, this gave gives you some help in the form of JogPlus items, which add five jogress points. Additionally, digimentals do play a role in a digimon's evolution line. Technically, any digimon can be equipped with any digimental. Take, for example, the Seraphimon egg, which is number 20 in the list. When it is equipped with a digimental, it will follow Armadimon's evolution line and you'll end up with Vikemon in the end. Without a digimental, it will instead evolve to Seraphimon. Additionally, digimentals can be added during the jogress process to grant the ensuing egg with the defenses or skills of that digimental. That said, here's hoping the Jogress guide makes sense. Jogress requirements to get that egg, if there are any, are listed below the evolution lines as simple addition formulas. They'll look something like this: 1+1. There will also sometimes be a letter in front of the formulas, like so: (x). This denotes that any of these combinations will result in this egg. Hope that helps! Great! Toss it. Not only do digimentals not work that way in this game, there are more than you can shake a D-3 at. Some still serve the same purpose they did in the show, but the bulk of these are battle enhancers and give either an extra skill or resistance to a type of attack. They can also be added during the jogress process to serve as additional inborn skills. They can all be bought in Centaurmon's Digimental Room at different upgrade levels. If you decide to go the way of emulation, be warned that Oswan, Cygne, and WSCamp are processor- intensive and the gameplay will be extremely lagged and erratic if played on an older computer. In my experience, these also tend to dominate the sound system with loud music, so just a warning. However, Oswan does allow save states, which can help. If at all possible, I recommend getting a WSC and the actual cart. They can be taken anywhere and used at any time, there's no lag time, and chances are you'll be less likely to get carpal tunnel. ====================================================================== =Credits (CR)= ====================================================================== Thanks to...
